It was a article about graphic designers and this was during the boom of advertising for the market and a bunch of artists felt like they were wasting their talent on marketing in a capitalist World.  Then ad busters in 2000 created a new manifesto.  In this they changed the tome of advertisement from caring to a waste and foolishness.

Nike " just do it". As busters just make it.

Encourage in this direction designers then apply their skills and imagination to sell dog biscuits ect...commercial work has always paid the bills but many graphic designers have now become like this.
A lot of us have grown used to goal logos and industry.
I you work to .market or advert who make anything you are unethical and just encouraging it when it should be challenged; however their is capital which is like the big boss character.
in 1964, 22 via com people signed a original call for their skills to be put to worthwhile use.  Today we renew their manifesto in expectation that no more decades will pass before it is taken to heart. 
There is still the confusion of advertising and capitalism and trying to fined were the line is.
Meme war fair, its basically a unit of information which jumps from brain to brain but its catchy and sticks to the person then other memes compete therefore who ever has the best meme controls the money/ world really.
Victor Papanek, 1971, writes boobs which are very powerful. A lot of his work was slaying advertising. He just wanted to people to use their skills to the fullest and not wasted.  Papanek beer can automobile can bumper 1971.  

This leads back to the question of 'how do we determine what is good?' This heads on to capitalism and how do we escape from this?  But who is right or is no one right?

Subjective relativism.
+ there are no universal moral norms of right and wrong
+ all persons decides right and wrong

Cultural relativism
+ the ethical theory that what's right or wrong depends on place and time

Divine command theory
+ good actions are aligned with the will of god
+ bad .actions are contrary to the will of god
+ the holy book helps make decisions.

Kantianism
People wills should be based on moral rules
Therefore its important that our actions are .based on appropriate moral rules.
To determine when a moral rule is appropriate Kant proposed which one is the better of two evils basically.

Utilitarianism
Also know as greatest happiness principle
If some thing is good it increases happiness good
Of something is bad it decreases happiness Bad

Social contract theory
An agreement between individuals held together by common interest. We trade some of our own liberty for a stable society.
