Context of Practice 3 Research Genres of film

For my project I need to look into what different genres there are, the Pros and Cons of the genres in my opinion, then decide which ones (primary and possibly secondary) genres to use for the practical project.

Action

Action films, are high energy, big budget stunts, chase scenes and normally over the top huge explosions.  These films are designed for pure audience escapism. A classic film is the "James Bond" films.  Pros of this is that it would be fun to make and have a lot of benefits of exciting my audience however a con is that I'm not passionate about action films and I believe they are very over the top with explosions.

Adventure

A film which has the main character travels around looking for a object/goal and usually this is a exciting story with new experiences and example is "Pirates of the Caribbean", this genre is very similar to action genre.  Therefore pro is again would be fun however not passionate enough to go for this, for my project.

Comedies

The light hearted plots consistently and deliberately designed to provoke laughter and humour an example is "Hot Fuzz". I would like to make a short film/trailer about this however it doesn't go with my dissertation of storytelling as comedies plots/stories are "light hearted" therefore this genre doesn't work.

Horror

This genre is designed to frighten an invoke our fears in a shocking way, while entertaining us a the same time an example film is "Silent Hill". I enjoy this genre and it could be interesting to work on this, however to this type of genre would need a lot of time and preparation of practical effects which take time to make therefore would be best to try this type of film at a later date?

Sci-Fi

The visionary films, looking into the future with space travel and aliens, and fighting unknown forces, "Star Wars" is a classic of the genre. I think this genre will be good however if I do use this genre I will be not going far into the future like "Star Wars"but more towards "I, Robot" which is 'future modern world' sub genre of Sci-Fi.

Fantasy

The genre which no logic is needed and the opposite to Sci-Fi. "Harry Potter", "Lord of the Rings" these film fit this genre as both contain magic and create mythical beings which we don't question but enjoy. I would love to do this genre as well however I would prefer to do this as a different project.

Overview.
I believe that I will go for the Sci-Fi genre and do something about cybernetics as I'm interested in this area therefore if I'm excited by the knowledge and planning a VFX film about cybernetics, could the audience who is watch the film get that same feeling as me?
I'm planning on having a case studies of films in the dissertation, I could use a examples from different genres compare the stories to see if the basic plots are the same or different?
