CoP 3 Film research: Edge of Tomorrow

A epic action, sci-fi film. "Edge of Tomorrow" unfolds once again in the near future, where a alien race has hit earth in a unrelenting assault, unbeatable by any military unit in the world.  Tom Cruise plays an officer who has never seen a day of combat when he is unceremoniously dropped into what amounts to a suicide mission. Killed within minutes of the film, he finds himself now in a continuous time loop, he lives out the same combat day after day. Later on he finds Emily Blunt who agrees to train him, so he can become mankind's weapon against the alien race.

Trailer Here

I watched this film with the thinking "it's another silly Tom Cruise film" but it did shock me as to how well thought out the story is.  The story line is basic but with the complexity of a time loop it became something more. Throughout the film the same day was looping therefore the audience knows this but the director decided to be very clever in showing different methods of how he goes to see Emily Blunt to get trained; every time he was sent to the beginning of the time loop.
I think this method of storytelling is amazing and personally got me hooked into the film, so why did this happen?  I think because it allowed me to escape reality, and it put a interesting twist on storytelling!
In this film I like the suits they wear, but sadly there isn't much else which could be used for my practical piece, however the trailer is a different story, because as the trailer continues it begins to unravel a bit of the story giving the audience a sample of what's going to happen.
The music in this is another aspect which improves the storytelling in the film trailer, as it starts slowley and builds up, but it remains saddening music until Emily appears before Tom, then it changes and becomes upbeat as if to say this is how you win/ this is how the hero progresses!

Story though sound needs to be looked at!
From this I believe it might be an idea to do a trailer instead of a actual film because both methods have storytelling in them just different ways of showing the storytelling.
